Duke University is a world-renowned university known for its high standards of education and research. As part of keeping in touch with students, faculty, and other members of the university community, Duke provides an email service so that anyone can easily contact and stay connected with each other.
What is Duke’s email address?
As a student or employee at Duke University, you will be assigned a Duke email address in the following format: yourNetID@duke.edu. - Outgoing mail server: smtp.office365.com

- Port: 995 for incoming, 587 for outgoing
- You can also access your Duke email on your phone or tablet by downloading the Microsoft Outlook app from the App Store or Google Play Store. Once you’ve installed the app, follow the prompts to add your Duke email account.

How do I add my Duke email to gmail?
You can add your Duke email to Gmail by following these steps:
- In Gmail, click on the gear icon in the top right corner and select “Settings” from the dropdown menu.
- Click on the “Accounts and Import” tab.
- Under the “Check email from other accounts” section, click on “Add a mail account.”
- Enter your Duke email address in the “Email address” field and click “Next.”
- Select “Import emails from my other account (POP3)” and click “Next.”
- Enter the following information:
- Username: Your Duke NetID
- Password: Your Duke password
- POP Server: pop.gmail.com
- Port: 995
- Check “Always use a secure connection (SSL) when retrieving mail.”
- Click “Add Account.”
- In the next screen, you can choose whether to leave a copy of retrieved messages on the server and how often to check for new messages. When you’re done, click “Save Changes.”
Your Duke email should now be set up in Gmail. You can access it by clicking on the “Inbox” dropdown menu in the left sidebar and selecting your Duke email address.
How do I get my Duke email on my phone (iPhone and Android)?
You can get your Duke email on your phone by following these steps:
- On your phone, go to your email app (e.g. Gmail, Outlook, etc.).
- Add a new email account by going to the settings menu and selecting “Add Account.”
- Follow the prompts to enter your Duke email address and password.
- If you are asked to select the type of email account you want to set up, choose “Exchange.”
- Enter the following information:
- Domain: ad
- Username: Your Duke NetID
- Password: Your Duke password
- Server: outlook.office365.com
- Tap “Next” or “Done” to complete the setup process.
Your Duke email should now be set up on your phone and you should be able to access it through the email app.
